Little Smile Association

The Little Smile Association (LSA) emerged from an aid project for Singhalese and Tamil children in need that was founded by Michael Kreitmeir. Since 2002 the children’s aid organization has been officially registered in Sri Lanka as a local NGO. In Germany the non-profit association “Little Smile e.V.“ organizes and coordinates LSAs support.

The main project, the children’s village Mahagedara in the mountains near Koslanda, was founded by the TV journalist and film producer Michael Kreitmeir already in 1999 and mainly funded from his own resources. Since then there have been continuous expansions. The children’s village has an area of 15 hectares with a difference in altitude of 90 meters and a maximum length of 600 meters.

Eliya Tea Project

Manuel Kreitmeir – founder of Eliya Tea Project:

“Since my father founded the children’s village Little Smile in the mountains of Sri Lanka 1999, I spent long periods as a child with my family on the island and it became my second home. Whenever I came back to Germany, I soon missed the good Ceylon tea. I searched everywhere, but it never tasted nearly as good as “at home” in Little Smile. So from each visit I brought a large pack of tea home with me. And it was not long before my friends asked me to bring them some of “the good tea” from my next visit.

On the picture: Manuel Kreitmeir with his father on his 18th birthday in the children’s village. Only a few weeks later the serious tsunami disaster occurred.

This is how the idea for the Eliya Tea Project originated. We chose the best Ceylon teas from the Sri Lankan highlands for you, and with 50 Cent per tea package you support social and ecological projects of Little Smile - you can choose which one during the purchase process.”
